Freie Universitaet Berlin is a major comprehensive German research university and has been awarded with the label "Excellence University" by the German government.

The Freie Universitaet Berlin also is one of the distinguished foreign universities working closely with the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Under the cooperation agreement with the CSC the Freie Universitaet Berlin is providing high quality research training for qualified students from leading Chinese universities with the aim to contributing to the development of education and research collaborations between Freie Universitaet and leading Chinese universities.

Freie Universitaet Berlin has just published a list of more than 50 open positions for Chinese postgraduate students who plan to apply for a CSC scholarship in 2010. The offer is encompassing a broad range of subject areas and is easily accessible online: 

Almost all positions are compatible both, with so-called Sandwich-type PhD studies, ultimately leading to a PhD degree of the home university in China, as well as with full PhD studies at Freie Universitaet Berlin.
