On April 22, executive director of the Tokyo Foundation Sanae Oda and another 2 delegates visited Jilin University. Executive Vice President of JLU Chen Gang met with the delegation, and officials from Graduate Management Division, Finance Department and Office of the International Cooperation and Exchange attended the meeting.
At the outset, Chen Gang extended his warm welcome to Sanae Oda and delegates, and his commendation for positive contributions of the Tokyo Foundation in support of cultivation of excellent graduates in humanities and social sciences and outstanding youth, enhancement of Sino-Japanese cultural and academic exchanges, and advancement the cause of youth scholarships, and his heartfelt gratitude for long-sanding sincere cooperation between the Tokyo Foundation and Jilin University. Sanae Oda also expressed his thanks for warm hospitality, and retrospect that he first visited Jilin University in 1991 and signed and launched “Ryoichi Sasakawa Excellent Youth Education Fund” project with Jilin University in 1992. This project has co-sponsored 1209 excellent students of JLU successively. He also praised activities held by JLU, such as “ Ryoichi Sasakawa Medical Scholarship Program”、 “Sasakawa Cup” knowledge contest and expressed his congratulations on 70th anniversary of Jilin University in advance.
During the visit, Sanae Oda and another 2 delegates shared their opinions and communicated with relevant members managed Ryoichi Sasakawa Foundation Committee on remarkable progress made by Ryoichi Sasakawa Excellent Youth Scholarship and Graduate Ryoichi Sasakawa Scholarship of Jilin University, and celebration 25 anniversary of “Ryoichi Sasakawa Excellent Youth Education Fund” in 2017. Besides, the delegation had a discussion of graduate students who acquired “Ryoichi Sasakawa Outstanding Young Scholarship” in 2014 or 2015, and introduced a variety of follow-up funding for the project beneficiaries.
